GOODBYE

I didn't even get the chance

to tell you goodbye.

Is that all there is to life?.

I'm left asking: why?.

For years you suffered

then all the sudden you die.

I still can't believe you are gone,

and sometimes I cry.

The questions seem so futile,

I wonder, why even try?.

Life's so uncertain;

it quickly passes you by.

Wings of angel carry you now,

high above me you fly.

Left to carry on without you,

I love you and miss you.

Goodbye-

_*_

You open your dream-bathed eyes

to see me gazing into you

with innocent curiosity -

as if your vulnerability were

the most delicate essence

a man could cherish.

I want to taste, and smell,

and live the memories in your eyes,

so that you never need ask why, or what;

or shy away from my smile,

wrapping trust in perfect silence.

Shoes

Little Shoes, scuffed and dusty
led him out the gate.
Kicked a rock, kicked a stick,
little shoes.

Little shoes on little feet
shuffled down the walk.
Summertime, sun beat down on
little shoes.

Little shoes went through the gate
of the Quincy Public Pool.
Pulled them off before he swam,
little shoes.

No one around to watch him swim,
found him floating in Quincy Pool.
And they found his little shoes.
Little shoes.

Show And Tell

by Summer Leigh

Strip the dressing of your eyes

Release the madness locked with chains inside

Show and tell all to all

Taunt the world with jewels of your ardor

Curse and bleed and guard your soul

Believe your smile and make that belief your shield.

_*_

You sweep across my mind

waltzing

like weeping willows

dancing in the wind

as i bask in the

shadows of your shade

I inhale...your scent

that lightly surrounds me

soaking beneath the surface

of my skin

remembering your sweet kisses

slithering across my limbs

undauntingly

enveloping me

with impeccable pleasure.

To my Wife

I drank of all her tenderness
and left my heart behind.
I slipped into her deep blue eyes
and found a love divine.

I tasted freedom in a vow
beyond the pain of severed ties.
Surrounded by her virtues now
into the field where freedom lies.

Goodbye

I must tell you my friend
Although it hurts my heart
We can never be together
No, we must remain apart

Yes, I do know what you need
Something I cannot provide
I'm afraid to give myself to you
Would want you always by my side

In my mind I realize
That this can never be
So now I say Good Bye to you
I won't forget ... Will you remember me?

Don't speak to me of forever.

Don't give me your undying devotion.

Don't give me rings or jewelry.

Don't write me poetry

When you feel inclined.

Don't give me flowers or chocolates.

Don't call me just to talk to me.

Don't laugh with me when I enjoy life.

Don't put your arm around me

When we walk side-by-side.

Don't let me call you "Darling",

Don't listen to my worries,

Don't give me sympathy,

Don't let me love you

For your uncaring self.

To Sarah

What a joy it has been for me

To have been chosen the one

To help Sarah develop and sing her song

She is a life which is growing so strong,

And who in her youth has lived so long

But, my darling dearest, like this wine bottled today

As good as you are now, you are only still

The essence of what you are to become.

I AM

I am a wildfire spreading fast

I am a beast roaming the forest

The wind blows gently...

But I am fierce.

Fear me as I fear myself.

--*--

Cemetery

Under this earth

Are lives that have

Passed

And memories

That have been

Forgotten

Weeds thrive

On patches of dust

Too hard

And too dry

To grow anything else

Stones tear at the dirt

Markers for the

Love that has been

Buried here

And women cry

Desperately

As this ground

Claims another

--*--

UNTITLED

Sadness befell my heart,

At a time,

Not so long ago,

To watch from afar,

When everything felt,

So near;

There is no sign of these feelings,

Save for one solitary tear;

What was magic at first,

Is gone forever,

What was to be my dream,

Was to be mine,

Never;

To watch from afar,

'Tis my fate,

And my sadness,

Hath become nothing,

But a lonely weight.

Chicks always dis me
My girlfriend moved to Tulsa
That's what her friends say

--*--

Abuse

The sun would light my room as a child,

Taking away night terrors-but greater threats lay ahead.

No words were spoken kindly

No thoughts shared in confidence

Or silence.

No written words, no shouts of joy

Only the quiet desperation of a handcuffed heart.

I FOUND HER SLEEPING
LIKE A PROMISE
ON A SOFTLY WOVEN LIE

I LEFT HER TREMBLING
DISEASED AND SICKENED
WITH MISCHIEF IN HER EYE

SHE FOUND HIM SLEEPING...

Oh no, another attack

of poetry --

words rushing into my mind,

hand clawing for my rusty pen.

Fight it, resist the urge.

The world already

is cluttered with wise words

and someone has said it all before,

and better,

and no one asked for my opinion

anyway.

she says: "Mushrooms"

with a definitive nod

as if she had already

settled that matter.

Smothered in garlic,

I would spoon-feed him."

he never is a bother.

The woman is my mother,

That boy there is my brother,
I'd rather have another.

This is what i have?

i halt for the JACKALS

banter with the bestial bruised

premature and desolate

not a scarce sight of honor

and honor only in hate

i covet a kindred touch

but kindred is RED from my palm plunging

i join again the jackals

and my heart renders black

Lite Poetry from Goose Holler

If ever you think you ain't good enough
Just get yourself a dip of snuff.
Then curl back your lips and grin,
And take a spit and try again.

"Shadows on the Wall"

Huh?

who?

what?

where?

wait....

watch out!

look over there.

I saw it again

whatever it was

what am I seeing?

maybe just fuzz.

I'll turn on the light

and wait to see what it was

but it's awfully late

so instead,

I'll just close my eyes

and then I won't see the shadows on the wall.

FOOL

I can hear your voice
and all the words you said
there's to many feelings
running round in my head

and its making me so angry
how life can be so cruel
all i can think to myself
is how i am such a fool

how could i treat you bad
and expect you to stay
when you'd be much better off
staying far far away

WHY DON'T THEY SEE ME?

Why don't they see me?

They look at me and see all bad.

Missing the part that loves them so.

They lie to me

And play with my mind

until I am so confused

I have to cry.

They have no reason to

hate me so, but hate me

none-the-less.

How can they not see the love

that burns so strong in my

heart only for them?

Why do they overlook my heart

and mind and look to my

hurtful past?

Why don't they see me?

What does hell think it's doing
beating on my head.

It has cut me down to size and
made me learn everything, not the
hard way, but the way that
takes you past death's door.

Love is so filled with hate
that I now laugh at lovers
because I can see their futures so
clearly. Why must there be love
if there is hate? Both end up
with the same conclusion.

ENTANGLEMENT OF CONTRAST

His hands, mahogany strong,
caress her alabaster smoothness.

Melifluous passion meshing beautiful skin
with beautiful skin, concealing the hardships within.

Together they are an entanglement of contrast,
until he reaches over to turn out the light.

The Bum

He walks along the streets

not knowing where to go

He has no fmaily in times of need

He sleeps on cold, hard benches at night

He has dirty, grey hair and he wears a dirty,

old jacket for his winter wear

He plunders in trash for food to eat

nobody cares, he's just a bum on the street

No one konws how he feels

Maybe one day people will wonder,

If it'll happen to them one day.
